XScale Water Conditioner Selection Guide |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
In order to accommodate a wide variety of applications, XScale Water Conditioners are available in a variety of sizes and end connections. This Selection Guide has been designed to aid in selecting the proper XScale unit for your specific applications. In order to insure the proper XScale unit will be chosen, simply follow this guide through Sections 1, 2, & 3. Section 1: WATER PROPERTIES REQUIRED FOR THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE XSCALE CATALYTIC WATER CONDITIONER The foundation of the XScale Water Conditioner's successful operations is the nucleation of Calcium Carbonate, along with certain other dissolved solids. In order for this nucleation to occur and provide the best results, the correct pH range, and certain minimum and maximum levels of key dissolved solids must be present in the water to be treated:
If water chemistry is outside these limits, please contact Aquality Water Systems, since XScale Water Conditioners may function in water outside these limits, but only under very specific and controlled circumstances. If XScale is compatible with your water properties, then proceed to Section 2 below. Section 2: CONDITIONER MODEL/SIZE APPLICATION CHART The following chart will facilitate the selection of the proper model/size conditioner for the flow rate of the water line in which you wish to install an XScale unit. NOTE: Conditioner size should be selected based upon total flow rate, not by pipe size. As an added guide, typical applications are listed for the various XScale sizes.
Select the Model/Size range (Commercial vs Residential) that is appropriate, then proceed to Section 3 below.
Section 3: XScale CONDITIONER MODEL SELECTION GUIDE Select the Body Material and End Connection Diameter from the table below. The end connection diameters listed are the sizes usually chosen in residential, commercial, and industrial applications for water flow rates that are appropriate to the Conditioner Model/Size. However, since the XScale Water Conditioner is sized to the water flow rate in the line, rather than the line's size, it is not always possible for the Conditioner end connections to match the size or material of the line in which it is being used. When this occurs, use adapter fittings to complete the installation. Please remember that di-electric nipples must be used when installing XScale Conditioners into galvanized pipes.
