The result is a line of products that uses evaporative cooling and
conductive cooling to provide hours of cooling relief in even the
hottest outdoor/indoor conditions.
Evaporative Cooling is an alternative way to combat heat stress.
Aquality distributes several products that harness the cooling energy
that is produced when water naturally changes from a liquid to a gas
(evaporation). We have created a unique Polymer Embedded Fabric that is
sewn into the garment lining. Once activated by submerging in room
temperature water for 1-3 minutes, our evaporative cooling products
provide hours of cooling relief. These products are a cost effective way
to help you combat heat stress.
How does it
work?
The
Evaporative Cooling Vest utilizes and amplifies two of nature's
best cooling mechanisms:
1. Conduction
Conduction is
the transfer of heat between materials that contact each other that are
of different temperature. Heat
passes from the warmer material to the cooler material. In this case, a
worker's warm body will transfer heat to a cooling vest if that vest is
cooler.
2. Evaporative Cooling
Evaporative
cooling takes place when fluids evaporate, taking with them a high level
of heat energy, leaving cooler fluid molecules behind. Water
is a particularly effective evaporative cooling agent due to its high
'heat of vaporization' (heat energy absorbed to cause evaporation).
That is why we sweat to cool off...the water on the surface of our skin
provides evaporative cooling on contact with air
The Evaporative
Cooling Vest therefore takes the place of a layer of sweat is
against the body by providing active cooling, while keeping the wearer dry
and reducing the wearer's body water losses due to sweating.
This means improved endurance outdoors
during conditions of heat stress, such as hot temperatures or exercise.
NOTE: In areas of
very high humidity, the evaporative cooling items will experience
slowed cooling effect due to slowed evaporation. In these cases,
using phase-change cooling vests and items (either in place of, or as a
supplement to, evaporative cooling items) will increase the cooling
effect.
